[ about me ]

Hi, I'm Mya Van Woudenberg.

I’m an environmental visual storyteller based on Vancouver Island, British Columbia on Coast Salish territory. Through photography, videography and design, environmental stories can be given a different voice—one that everyone can understand. I’m incredibly passionate about using these mediums to help folks connect with the natural world and, consequently, help protect our shared home.

I’m a firm believer in the power of visual storytelling to inspire change. My conservation work has been featured by Sierra Club BC, CBC, The National Observer, Sony, Saving Earth Magazine, and more. I’m also an Ambassador for Girls Who Click, a collective working to build space for women-identifying folks in the conservation storytelling field.

I’m incredibly grateful to be living on the west coast among the towering cedars, eagles, bears and salmon. Most days I can be found with my camera in hand strolling through misty forests and lively estuaries.
