How old-growth forests keep communities safe from climate risks
I wrote and illustrated an infographic series highlighting the findings of the Intact Forests, Safe Communities report by Sierra Club BC. The goal was to make the important findings of this research accessible to the public and to inspire people to take action for old growth.
The report looks at the relationship between forest management and severe climate impacts expected across B.C. It shows that governments can mitigate climate-related disasters like flooding, droughts, fires and heatwaves by swiftly reforming B.C.’s forestry practices, applying Indigenous knowledge to forest-related decisions, and protecting and restoring intact forests before the climate crisis worsens.
My corresponding three-part comic series delves into the impact of forest management decisions on communities’ resilience to (1) wildfires, (2) floods and landslides, and (3) water quality change.
This popular infographic series was reached thousands on social media and was picked up by CBC.
